The Gunsmith

Hi, I am Oscar Long, and I have been an active firearms enthusiast my entire life. Over the years, I have taught the Canadian Firearms Safety Course for Non-Restricted and Restricted firearms. I was a leader in a 4H firearms program for many years. I have been the President of Nosehills Gun Club and Provost and District Fish and Game Associations for many years. I have taken classes on shotgun shooting, including courses on teaching shotgun shooting, and have done shotgun instruction and shotgun fitting.

I am an active competition shooter, currently competing primarily in IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation) and Skeet. I have over the years competed in IHMSA (International Handgun Metalic Shooting Association), Rifle Silhouette, 3 Gun, Trap, Sporting Clays and any local competitions available. Tuning on competition guns for a wide variety of shooting sports over the years has expanded my skills and my understanding of what a firearm needs to do for the competition shooter.

I am also an avid hunter. My primary hunting focus is on waterfowl, but I also hunt big game locally in both rifle and archery seasons, and had the good fortune to make a trip to Africa. This gives me a good insight into what hunters need out of their firearms.
