Ribstone Gunsmithing

How to Save Money on your Gunsmithing Bill

Here are a few quick tips on how you can make everyone's life easier, and save money in the process.
  • If you are sending the gun for feeding, ejection or firing issues, send along the ammunition you were using when you experienced the issue. Often a firearm will work fine with the ammunition we have available at the shop. It may still be a firearm issue, but it's hard to diagnose a problem that we can't replicate. If you can provide ammunition, it saves us having to spend time and money tracking down ammunition and passing the cost on to you. If shipping a firearm by Canada Post this won't be an option, but please provide details on the ammunition you were using.
  • Please provide all information you can on what is wrong, and what has happened to the firearm. If your uncle Ed did a trigger job for you, or your brother-in-law loaded you his super duper handloads, these details can help with speeding up diagnosis, which in turn saves you money. We won't judge, but the more information you can share, the easier the job can be, and therefore; the cheaper the repair.
  • Include the magazine with the firearm if it has a detachable magazine. It can be hard to test a firearm without the feed path. If you have feeding issues and have multiple magazines, send them all.
  • Please remove slings, bipods and other accessories that are not relevant to the job. Scope removal is optional. If unsure if accessory may or may not be relevant to the job, ask us.
